Lilith - Relaxing

$2,500.00
Sold Out

The legendary first woman. This beauty is painted on a 100% cotton canvas, mounted on a 1.5” support frame (does not come with a decorative frame). The sides of the painting are not painted (see picture) if you want the sides to be painted black or perhaps dark brown, send me an email to heramysterium@gmail.com.

Size: 20” x 30”

I have included a few pictures for visualization. Please note that colour might seem different in person as every digital device and screen have a different colour calibration.

What is the reason I painted Lilith? Well, I believe she was vilified for just standing for herself and I will probably paint more versions of her.

She appears in medieval Jewish texts and kabbalah, alongside in many other middle eastern cultures. She was Adam's first wife who disobeyed him and God, asserting her equality to Adam, giving a legendary origin to her “demon behavior”. Lilith got her powers after being driven out of the Garden of Eden and becoming a demon. Lilith gained the ability to shift her feminine form from completely human to a demonic monster. Lilith represents chaos, seduction and ungodliness. Yet, in her every guise, Lilith has cast a spell on mankind.

Her symbols are the crossroad, owls, serpents, tree and dark moon. To me she is a symbol of freedom, courage, passion and pleasure. She refused to be beneath anyone and wanted to be treated equally.
