This surrealist piece explores the philosophy of absurdism, focusing on the human tendency to seek meaning in life. The concept of the "Absurd" is not merely that life lacks meaning; it lies in the conflict between our relentless search for purpose and the universe's complete indifference. In my understanding, humans react to the Absurd in three ways, and I have depicted one of these reactions - Acceptance.
What we choose to nurture within ourselves can still be beautiful, vibrant, and alive. Although the universe does not provide us with inherent purpose, we can rebel against this void by creating our own joy.
Size: 22” by 28”, 3/4” cotton canvas. Varnished to protect against the elements and the sides are painted black.
